📉 Fake Stocks On-Chain?

RWA World Newsletter - July 11, 2025

Bitcoin is making moves, and so are we – Ray Buckton, Head of Research at RWA World, ready to lock in. 🔒

As its shares soar, Robinhood is coming for the NYSE’s lunch with tokenized stocks. But OpenAI says “not so fast” as it rebuffs the tokenization of its shares. 👀

🎯🔥 Rapid Fire Takeaways:

More cold water comes from the SEC’s Hester Peirce, who says tokenized securities are still securities. But JP Morgan isn’t bearish, seeing TradFi and DeFi merging faster than anyone expects. 🌐

🏛️ Govs, Regs, and Associations

Despite the GENIUS Act raising concerns over insolvency provisions, Paul Atkins is all-in on tokenized stocks as tech billionaires form a new bank to fill SVB’s void. Senator Lummis also proposes a $300 de minimis exemption for crypto transactions, as TradFi groups want the SEC to clarify the rules further. 🦅

Dubai is flourishing, approving tokenized money market funds and launching a regulated crypto-payment ecosystem. Nearby, Bahrain took note, with its central bank launching its first stablecoin issuance. Australia is playing it cool in the face of mounting US sanctions as it takes further steps towards a CBDC. 🦘

📰 Tokenization Developments

So much is happening that we needed a more rapid-fire format to get you up to speed. First, we have investments:

Sometimes, investing isn’t enough, and you want the entire pie to yourself. That’s where acquisitions come into play:

Collaboration’s not all about the money – it makes the world go ‘round. We’re seeing plenty of that in tokenization, with Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange partnering with HSBC and FAB to launch MENA's first digital bond. They’re not alone when it comes to working with others:

👛 Stablecoins Galore

All the rage, stablecoin involvement sent Danal shares flying, as USD1 is now live on Tron and Polymarket’s $1 billion valuation further bolstered Circle’s USDC, as the protocol mints 5.5 USDC on Solana in Q2 alone. Tokenized treasuries are a big part, at $7.4 billion – even Treasury Secretary Bessent says markets want private stablecoins over CBDCs, much to the chagrin of bank profits. Conversely, banks could unlock $10 trillion for treasuries if they do things right. The euro wants a piece of the action, salivating over a hopeful €100B market cap. 📈

Interest everywhere, as Airwallex is building a stablecoin team, RLUSD is integrating with AMINA, and Cedar Money and AllScale raised $9.9 million and $1.5 million for stablecoins, respectively. Next Generation and Sumsub are thinking ahead with fraud prevention technology, as Binance Pay brings stablecoins to 80+ merchants in France. Mastercard and Visa are also accelerating, integrating PYUSD, USDC, and other stablecoins. Ethereum is the big winner, boasting over 51% of all stablecoin infrastructure. 💳

Ripple’s US Trust license underpins its stablecoin ambitions, as RLUSD passed $500 million after launching on Transak. While Ant International is considering a stablecoin license, China’s tech giants are lobbying for a yuan-based stablecoin, and Russian defense conglomerate Rostec wants a ruble version for secure transactions. However, what backs these assets is essential, as the recent depeg of DWF Lab’s USDf highlights. 🧩

🔍 Growing Sectors and New Developments

Solana continues to grow with REX-Osprey launching a Solana staking ETF, and Ripple moves ahead with $200 million in Bitcoin coming to the ledger. And with Vitalik claiming Ethereum has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, there are ever more platforms launching and developments taking shape:

Equities and funds are popping off, offering good and bad aspects as BounceBit says “don’t sit idle” and Bernstein says a “wave is coming.” Between Gemini launching tokenized MSTR, MembersCap launching a reinsurance fund, and DFDV launching tokenized shares, we believe it. 🔮

Commodities are as good as (or literally) gold, with BioSig securing $1.1 billion to expand a gold-backed blockchain and UTribe securing a VASP license in Europe for its digital gold product. Matrixport also established a XAUm gold reserve, as a Miami startup tokenized oil, and offsetting its carbon footprint just got easier thanks to JP Morgan’s tokenization of carbon credits. ♻️
